Ikram's Journey

Hajra & Habeeb's firstborn was a roly-poly bundle of joy - doted by his grandparents as he was their first grandchild. This was a family that balanced faith, modernity, education and a global outlook - well travelled, grounded, comfortable within their means. Ikram was born in Hyderabad where the families were rooted while Hajra & Habeeb were the quintessential modern couple living in Bombay building their family together independently.

When Ikram was just about a year old Hajra & Habeeb moved to Chennai and here's where they discovered that Ikram who was around 2 years old then was on the autism spectrum. Way back in 2004 few were even aware about autism - how to approach it, manage it - non-existent support systems... Ikram's life was an unending loop of discovering and attending therapies - speech, occupational, animal assisted... In the midst of this they moved back to Bombay. Ikram had started playschool in Chennai despite his speech delay.

From Euro kids in Chennai to Mumbai, till his nursery then to Hasanat School till his 2nd standard, then moved to SM Shetty International till 4th, before moving to Gateway School for 3 years where he discovered art and self-expression. Moving back to Hyderabad in 2015 he joined Sahasra, where he finished his 12th and then started his graduation course in Applied Arts at SV College of Fine Arts where he is currently in his 9th semester. 

Today while he pursues his graduation, he interns at VCC Studio and also attends the MEESchool for learning different crafts related to the Media & Entertainment Sector. He works on his music practicing on his keyboard, paints and gorges on  wikipedia endlessly while travelling in the metro with his ears plugged into music or whenever everything else is "boring" & he's not busy stuffing himself with his favourite dishes.
